ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING INFORMATION RELATED TO EXTERNAL OBJECT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17878141 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR OBTAINING INFORMATION RELATED TO EXTERNAL OBJECT
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes an electronic device that uses ultra wide band (UWB) technology to communicate with external electronic devices and obtain information about them. The device includes a UWB circuit and a processor that is connected to the circuit.
- The processor receives a response signal from an external electronic device through the UWB circuit.
- It then determines the distance between the external device and the electronic device.
- The processor identifies an external electronic device that is within a certain reference distance from the electronic device.
- It sends a second UWB signal towards the identified external device.
- The processor receives a reflected signal of the second UWB signal, which is caused by an external object that includes the identified external electronic device.
- Based on the reflected signal, the processor obtains information about the external object.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Indoor positioning and tracking systems
- Smart home automation
- Object detection and identification
- Security systems
Problems solved by this technology:
- Accurate distance measurement between electronic devices
- Identification of nearby electronic devices
- Obtaining information about external objects
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved accuracy in distance measurement
- Enhanced communication capabilities between electronic devices
- Increased efficiency in object detection and identification
Original Abstract Submitted
An electronic device includes an ultra wide band (UWB) circuit and at least one processor operatively coupled to the UWB circuit. The at least one processor is configured to receive a response signal from at least one external electronic device via the UWB circuit; identify information on distance between the at least one external electronic device and the electronic device; identify an external electronic device located within reference distance from the electronic device in the at least one external electronic device; transmit a second UWB signal via the UWB circuit, toward the identified external electronic device; receive a reflected signal of the second UWB signal caused by an external object including the identified external electronic device within time interval identified based on distance between the electronic device and the identified external electronic device; and based on the reflected signal, obtain information on the external object. Other various embodiments are possible.
