METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING REGENERATIVE BRAKING OF HYBRID VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17844836 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING REGENERATIVE BRAKING OF HYBRID VEHICLE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method and device for controlling regenerative braking in a hybrid vehicle.

  • The method involves controlling the hybrid vehicle to initiate braking in response to a brake pedal operation signal.
  • After the braking operation is started, a second motor connected to the transmission's input shaft is controlled to perform regenerative braking.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in hybrid vehicles to improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on traditional braking systems.
  • It can be used in various types of hybrid vehicles, including cars, trucks, and buses.

Problems Solved

  • Traditional braking systems in hybrid vehicles often waste energy as heat, reducing overall efficiency.
  • This technology solves the problem by utilizing regenerative braking, which converts kinetic energy into electrical energy and stores it for later use.

Benefits

  • Improved energy efficiency: Regenerative braking allows the hybrid vehicle to recover and reuse energy that would otherwise be lost during braking.
  • Extended battery life: By using regenerative braking, the hybrid vehicle can reduce the strain on the battery, leading to longer battery life.
  • Reduced emissions: The use of regenerative braking reduces the reliance on friction brakes, which results in lower emissions and a greener transportation option.

Original Abstract Submitted

Disclosed is a method of controlling regenerative braking of a hybrid vehicle, and a device thereof. The method includes: controlling, by a controller, a hybrid vehicle to start a braking operation in response to a brake pedal operation signal; and after the braking operation of the hybrid vehicle is started, controlling, by the controller, a second motor that is connected to an input shaft of a transmission of the hybrid vehicle to perform regenerative braking.
