Frame Replay with Selectable Taps - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17839213 titled 'Frame Replay with Selectable Taps
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a system for selectively replaying frames in an image processing pipeline for an electronic display. This system includes compensation circuitry that compensates for physical parameters of the display.
- The system includes first compensation circuitry that compensates for a first physical parameter of the display.
- The system also includes second compensation circuitry that compensates for a second physical parameter of the display.
- A first tap point is located between the first and second compensation circuitry, allowing the image frame to be stored and reused.
- A second tap point is located after the second compensation circuitry.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Electronic displays in various devices such as smartphones, tablets, televisions, and computer monitors.
- Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets.
- Gaming consoles and graphics processing units (GPUs).
Problems solved by this technology:
- Compensation circuitry helps to improve the quality of images displayed on electronic screens by compensating for physical parameters of the display.
- Selective frame replay allows for better image processing and display, reducing artifacts and improving overall visual experience.
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved image quality and visual experience for users.
- More efficient image processing and display, reducing artifacts and enhancing clarity.
- Potential for smoother and more realistic graphics in gaming and VR/AR applications.
Original Abstract Submitted
Systems, methods, and devices are provided to selectively perform a frame replay at various stages of an image processing pipeline for an electronic display. Image processing circuitry may include first compensation circuitry that compensates for a first compensation factor relating to a first physical parameter of an electronic display and second compensation circuitry that compensates for a second compensation factor relating to a second physical parameter of the electronic display. A first tap point that enables the image frame to be stored and reused may be located between the first compensation circuitry and the second compensation circuitry, while a second tap point may be located after the second compensation circuitry.
