METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTHENTICATING AND AUTHORIZING NETWORK FUNCTION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17814197 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTHENTICATING AND AUTHORIZING NETWORK FUNCTION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for operating a network function (NF) service consumer entity in a wireless communication system to support higher data transmission rates.

  • The NF service consumer entity transmits a service request message to a service communication proxy (SCP) entity.
  • The service request message includes either the client credentials assertion (CCA) credential of the NF service consumer entity or information related to an NF service producer entity.
  • The SCP entity forwards a service response message, generated by the NF service producer entity, to the NF service consumer entity.
  • The NF service producer entity is authenticated based on the service response message.

Potential Applications

  • This technology can be applied in 5G or 6G communication systems to support higher data transmission rates.
  • It can be used in various wireless communication scenarios where NF service consumer entities interact with NF service producer entities.

Problems Solved

  • The method solves the problem of supporting higher data transmission rates in a wireless communication system.
  • It addresses the challenge of securely authenticating NF service producer entities.

Benefits

  • The method enables faster and more efficient data transmission in 5G or 6G communication systems.
  • It provides a secure authentication mechanism for NF service producer entities.
  • The technology improves the overall performance and reliability of wireless communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Provided is a method by which a network function (NF) service consumer entity operates in a wireless communication system. The method by which the NF service consumer entity operates includes transmitting, to a service communication proxy (SCP) entity, a service request message including at least one of a client credentials assertion (CCA) credential of the NF service consumer entity, or information related to an NF service producer entity, receiving, from the SCP entity, a service response message, wherein the service response message generated by the NF service producer entity is forwarded by the SCP entity to the NF service consumer entity, and authenticating the NF service producer entity based on the service response message.
