Augmented Reality Based Geolocalization of Images - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17772558 titled 'Augmented Reality Based Geolocalization of Images
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a technology for generating geolocalized images by accessing target location data and determining the suitable position of a user device to capture an unobstructed view of the target location. It also generates indications and images of the environment within the field of view of the user device.
- The technology accesses target location data associated with an environment.
- It determines a suitable position for the user device to capture an unobstructed view of the target location.
- The suitable position is determined based on the target location data and one or more criteria.
- Indications and images of the environment within the field of view of the user device are generated.
- The indications help in positioning the user device in the suitable position.
Potential Applications
- Tourism and travel applications for providing users with geolocalized images and information about their surroundings.
- Navigation applications for guiding users to specific locations and providing visual cues.
- Real estate applications for capturing and displaying images of properties from the best vantage points.
- Augmented reality applications for overlaying virtual objects onto the captured images.
Problems Solved
- Finding the best position to capture an unobstructed view of a target location.
- Providing users with accurate indications and images of their surroundings.
- Enhancing the user experience by providing geolocalized images and information.
Benefits
- Improved accuracy in capturing images of target locations.
- Enhanced user experience with geolocalized images and indications.
- Increased convenience in navigation and exploration of unfamiliar environments.
- Potential for innovative applications in various industries.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, devices, and tangible non-transitory computer readable media for generating geolocalized images are provided. The disclosed technology can access target location data. The target location data can include information associated with an environment from which a target location is within a field of view of a user device. A suitable position of the user device from which an unobstructed view of the target location is within the field of view of the user device and that satisfies one or more criteria can be determined based on the target location data. Furthermore, indications and images of the environment within the field of view of the user device can be generated. The indications can be associated with positioning the user device in the suitable position.
