Beam Information Reporting for PUCCH Secondary Cell Activation - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17755682 titled 'Beam Information Reporting for PUCCH Secondary Cell Activation

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a patent application for a user equipment (UE) that reports beam information for a secondary cell, specifically related to a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell (SCell) activation procedure.

  • The UE receives a signal from the network indicating the initiation of a PUCCH SCell activation procedure.
  • The UE collects beam information for a target PUCCH SCell and reports it to the network.
  • The UE confirms the activation of the target PUCCH SCell and transmits uplink control information (UCI) over a PUCCH to the PUCCH SCell.
  • The UE is also configured with a different PUCCH corresponding to a primary cell (PCell).

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in wireless communication systems to enhance the efficiency and reliability of uplink control information transmission in multi-cell scenarios.

Problems Solved

1. Improved management and activation of secondary cells for uplink control information transmission. 2. Enhanced coordination between primary and secondary cells for optimized network performance.

Benefits

1. Increased capacity and throughput in multi-cell environments. 2. Better quality of service for users with improved uplink control information transmission.

Potential Commercial Applications

Optimized network performance in 5G and beyond networks. Enhanced user experience in dense urban environments with multiple cells.

Possible Prior Art

Prior art may include patents related to beamforming techniques in wireless communication systems and methods for managing secondary cells in cellular networks.

What are the specific technical requirements for implementing this innovation in existing network infrastructure?

Details on the compatibility and integration of this technology with current network infrastructure are not addressed in the abstract.

Original Abstract Submitted

A user equipment (UE) is configured to report beam information for a secondary cell. The UE receives a signal from a network indicating that a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell (SCell) activation procedure has been initiated, collects beam information corresponding to a target PUCCH SCell, reports the beam information to the network, determines that the target PUCCH SCell has been activated as a PUCCH SCell and transmits uplink control information (UCI) over a PUCCH to the PUCCH SCell, wherein the UE is also configured with a different PUCCH corresponding to a primary cell (PCell).
