TERMINAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17754879 titled 'TERMINAL
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a terminal that can transition to a destination cell based on configuration information received from a gNB, without the need for a transition command.
- Receiving unit receives configuration information of a transition destination cell from a gNB.
- Control unit performs a transition to the destination cell based on the received configuration information.
- Terminal can perform a conditional cell transition before a timer expires.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in cellular networks to improve handover processes and enhance network efficiency.
Problems Solved
1. Eliminates the need for explicit transition commands, streamlining the cell transition process. 2. Enhances network reliability by allowing terminals to transition to a new cell based on received configuration information.
Benefits
1. Faster and more efficient cell transitions for terminals. 2. Improved network performance and reliability. 3. Simplified handover procedures for cellular networks.
Potential Commercial Applications
"Enhancing Cellular Network Handover Efficiency with Terminal Transition Technology"
Possible Prior Art
There may be prior art related to handover optimization in cellular networks, but specific examples are not provided in the abstract.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology impact battery life of terminals in cellular networks?
The abstract does not mention the potential impact of this technology on the battery life of terminals. It would be important to understand if more frequent cell transitions could affect the overall power consumption of devices.
What security measures are in place to protect the configuration information exchanged between the terminal and the gNB?
The abstract does not address the security aspects of the communication between the terminal and the gNB. It would be crucial to ensure that the configuration information is exchanged securely to prevent unauthorized access or tampering.
Original Abstract Submitted
A terminal includes a receiving unit that receives configuration information of a transition destination cell from a gNB by a conditional cell transition in the gNB in which the terminal resides, and a control unit that performs a transition to the transition destination cell based on the configuration information of the transition destination cell, without receiving a transition command. In a case where the receiving unit receives the configuration information of the transition destination cell, the control unit starts a CHO timer and can perform the conditional cell transition before the CHO timer expires.
