Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a digital camera's image processing unit that measures and displays dimensions of a subject in a captured image. It also generates depth information for distance distribution in the depth direction.

  • The image processing unit controls measurement and display of subject dimensions.
  • An image generation unit creates data for the captured image.
  • A depth generation unit generates depth information for distance distribution.
  • A display control unit shows the captured image and subject region within a specific distance range in the depth direction.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Measurement and display of subject dimensions in a captured image.
  • Generation of depth information for distance distribution.
  • Display control for subject region within a predetermined distance range.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in digital cameras, medical imaging, robotics, and augmented reality applications.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the need for accurate measurement and display of subject dimensions in images, as well as providing depth information for distance distribution.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced measurement accuracy in images.
  • Improved depth perception for better understanding of distance distribution.
  • Enhanced display control for subject regions within specific distance ranges.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in the development of advanced digital cameras, medical imaging devices, robotics systems, and augmented reality applications, potentially leading to improved user experiences and increased market competitiveness.

Questions about Image Processing Technology: 1. How does the depth generation unit generate depth information for distance distribution? 2. What are the potential commercial applications of this technology in the field of robotics?

Original Abstract Submitted

An image processing unit of a digital camera performs control for measuring and displaying dimensions of a subject corresponding to a plurality of measurement points on a captured image. An image generation unit generates data regarding the captured image, and a depth generation unit generates depth information related to a distance distribution in a depth direction corresponding to the captured image. A display control unit displays the captured image on a display unit, and performs control for displaying a subject region corresponding to a subject within a predetermined distance range from a reference distance in the depth direction in an identifiable manner.
