DISPLAY OF SECURITY INFORMATION BASED ON SPLITTING INTO IMAGES VIEWABLE AT A CERTAIN READING DISTANCE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17643629 titled 'DISPLAY OF SECURITY INFORMATION BASED ON SPLITTING INTO IMAGES VIEWABLE AT A CERTAIN READING DISTANCE

Simplified Explanation

The present invention is a device and method for displaying security information to a user. It involves a security device with a display surface that can show security information. This information includes at least one component that has two images, which can be seen from specific angles of view. The user's visual system fuses these images into the representation of the component when viewed at a reading distance, causing the eyes to look at the images from the corresponding angles of view.

  • The invention is a device and method for displaying security information.
  • The device includes a display surface for showing the security information.
  • The security information consists of at least one component with two images.
  • These images can be seen from specific angles of view.
  • The user's visual system fuses the images into the component's representation.
  • This fusion occurs when the user looks at the images from the corresponding angles of view.

Potential Applications

  • Counterfeit prevention: The device can be used to display security information on banknotes, identification cards, or other valuable items to prevent counterfeiting.
  • Access control: The device can be used to display security information on access cards or badges to ensure only authorized individuals can gain entry to secure areas.
  • Product authentication: The device can be used to display security information on product packaging or labels to verify the authenticity of the product.

Problems Solved

  • Counterfeiting: The device and method provide a way to display security information that is difficult to replicate, making it harder for counterfeiters to produce fake items.
  • Unauthorized access: By displaying security information that can only be viewed from specific angles, the device helps prevent unauthorized individuals from gaining access to secure areas.
  • Product counterfeiting: The device and method help verify the authenticity of products by displaying security information that is challenging to reproduce.

Benefits

  • Enhanced security: The device and method provide an additional layer of security by displaying information that is difficult to counterfeit or replicate.
  • User-friendly: The fusion of images occurs naturally when the user looks at the display, requiring no additional effort or training.
  • Versatile: The device can be applied to various items and surfaces, making it adaptable for different security needs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A device and method for displaying security information to a user is provided. The present invention may include a security device configured to display a security information on a display surface. The security information may include at least one component having two images based on a splitting of its representation that are viewable from corresponding angles of view. The images may be fused into the representation of the at least one component by a visual system of the user looking at them at a reading distance causing the eyes of the user to look at the images from the corresponding angles of view. A corresponding method for displaying security information to a user is also provided.
