VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240286686 titled 'VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE

The patent application describes a vehicle body structure with specific components for structural support and rigidity.

  • Floor tunnel protrudes from floor panel towards vehicle upper side, extending front-rear direction.
  • Pair of side members on each side of the floor panel, extending front-rear direction.
  • Pair of cross members in vehicle width direction, coupling side members and floor tunnel.
  • Underfloor brace at vehicle lower side of floor tunnel, front or rear side of cross members.
  • Pair of diagonal braces coupling cross members and underfloor brace.

Potential Applications: - Automotive industry for vehicle chassis design. - Manufacturing of heavy-duty vehicles for enhanced structural integrity.

Problems Solved: - Provides increased strength and stability to the vehicle body structure. - Enhances overall safety and durability of the vehicle.

Benefits: - Improved structural rigidity. - Enhanced safety features. - Long-lasting durability.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Vehicle Body Structure for Enhanced Safety" This technology can be utilized in the production of commercial trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles to ensure superior safety standards and longevity in the market.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this vehicle body structure improve overall safety standards in vehicles? - This structure enhances the rigidity and stability of the vehicle, reducing the risk of structural failure in case of accidents. 2. What are the key components that make up this innovative vehicle body structure? - The main components include the floor tunnel, side members, cross members, underfloor brace, and diagonal braces.

Original Abstract Submitted

a vehicle body structure, that includes: a floor tunnel that protrudes from a floor panel toward a vehicle upper side and that extends in a vehicle front-rear direction; a pair of side members, the respective side members provided at each vehicle width direction side of the floor panel and extending in the vehicle front-rear direction; a pair of cross members that respectively extend in a vehicle width direction, each cross member coupling a respective one of the pair of side members and the floor tunnel; an underfloor brace that is provided at a vehicle lower side of the floor tunnel, at a vehicle front side of the pair of cross members or a vehicle rear side of the pair of cross members; and a pair of diagonal braces, each diagonal brace coupling a respective one of the pair of cross members and the underfloor brace.
