NOTIFICATION CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240253657 titled 'NOTIFICATION CONTROL DEVICE

    • Simplified Explanation:**

The patent application describes a system that determines whether to notify a driver during autonomous driving based on the driver's status and the vehicle's driving status. If a driver is not recognized by the monitoring camera, the system decides whether to send a relaxed notification or a normal notification to the driver.

    • Key Features and Innovation:**
  • System determines notification type based on driver status and driving status.
  • Different notification modes - relaxed and normal.
  • Monitoring camera used to recognize driver during autonomous driving.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be applied in autonomous vehicles, driver monitoring systems, and advanced driver assistance systems.

    • Problems Solved:**
  • Ensures driver is notified appropriately during autonomous driving.
  • Improves driver safety and awareness.
  • Enhances user experience in autonomous vehicles.
    • Benefits:**
  • Increased safety on the road.
  • Improved driver monitoring and notification systems.
  • Enhanced user comfort during autonomous driving.
    • Commercial Applications:**

This technology could be utilized by automotive manufacturers, technology companies developing autonomous vehicles, and companies focusing on driver safety systems.

    • Questions about the Technology:**

1. How does the system determine the driver's status during autonomous driving? 2. What are the specific criteria for the notification relaxation condition to be satisfied?

    • Frequently Updated Research:**

Researchers are continually exploring ways to enhance driver monitoring systems and improve the overall safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles. Stay updated on the latest advancements in this field for potential future applications.

Original Abstract Submitted

when a driver of a vehicle is not recognized by a driver monitoring camera during autonomous driving, it is determined whether a notification relaxation condition is satisfied based on a driver status and a driving status of the vehicle. when it is determined that the notification relaxation condition is not satisfied, normal notification processing is executed in which an output device notifies the driver in a first manner. when it is determined that the notification relaxation condition is satisfied, relaxation notification processing is executed in which the output device notifies the driver in a second manner that is more relaxed than the first mode.
