3D Printer Head - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240286349 titled '3D Printer Head

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a 3D printer head with multiple types of printer heads configured on a single head, allowing for printing with different materials at various resolutions.

  • The 3D printer head has multiple printer heads that print with materials of varying coarseness and fineness.
  • It can print using multiple different materials at different 3D-printing resolutions.
  • The printer head features an anti-ooze mechanism to reduce errors while printing.
  • Certain printer heads can be deployed or retracted when not in use during a 3D print.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in industries such as manufacturing, prototyping, and design for creating intricate and detailed 3D printed objects with various materials and resolutions.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the limitations of traditional 3D printers that can only print with one type of material at a specific resolution, allowing for more versatility and flexibility in 3D printing.

Benefits: The benefits of this technology include the ability to print with multiple materials and resolutions using a single printer head, reducing errors during printing, and enhancing the overall quality and complexity of 3D printed objects.

Commercial Applications: The technology could be commercially used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, and consumer goods for rapid prototyping, customized manufacturing, and production of complex parts and components.

Questions about 3D Printer Head with Multiple Types: 1. How does the anti-ooze mechanism in the printer head work? 2. What are the potential cost savings associated with using a single printer head for multiple materials and resolutions?

Original Abstract Submitted

3d printers perform additive manufacturing by depositing heated material (commonly plastic) onto a surface from a printer nozzle. this plastic can come in many forms, including filament and pellets, and not all types of 3d printer heads are suitable for printing with all types of plastic. moreover, certain materials are more suited to 3d printing at specific resolutions. disclosed herein are embodiments of a 3d printer head with multiple types of printer heads configured on a single head. by comprising different printer heads that print with materials of varying coarseness and fineness, the single head can print using multiple different materials at multiple 3d-printing resolutions. it also possesses an anti-ooze mechanism to reduce errors while printing and deploys or retracts certain printer heads when they are not being used during a 3d print.
