NETWORK NODE, USER EQUIPMENT AND METHODS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240340610 titled 'NETWORK NODE, USER EQUIPMENT AND METHODS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

The abstract describes a method for determining the reliability of positions of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communications network. The method involves obtaining two positions of the UE and comparing them to determine their reliability based on a threshold.

  • Obtaining a first position of the UE
  • Obtaining a second position of the UE
  • Comparing the first and second positions to determine reliability
  • Determining reliability based on the difference between the positions and threshold values

Potential Applications: - Location-based services in wireless networks - Asset tracking in industrial environments - Emergency services for accurate location information

Problems Solved: - Ensuring accurate positioning of UE in wireless networks - Improving reliability of location-based services - Enhancing asset tracking efficiency

Benefits: - Increased accuracy in determining UE positions - Enhanced reliability of location-based services - Improved efficiency in asset tracking applications

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Positioning Method for Wireless Networks" This technology can be utilized in industries such as logistics, transportation, and emergency services to improve location accuracy and efficiency. Market implications include better customer service, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced safety measures.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve the reliability of UE positions in a wireless network? - This method compares two positions of the UE to determine reliability based on a threshold, ensuring accurate location information. 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this method in real-world wireless communication networks? - Challenges may include signal interference, network congestion, and hardware limitations.

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research in this field focuses on optimizing the threshold values for determining position reliability, exploring new algorithms for position comparison, and enhancing the scalability of the method for large-scale networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method performed by a network node, a user equipment (ue), or both, for determining reliability of positions of the ue in a wireless communications network is provided. the method performed by the network node includes obtaining a first position of the ue, obtaining a second position of the ue, and determining whether or not the first position and the second position of the ue are reliable based on comparing of the first position and the second position. the comparison includes determining that the first position and the second position of the ue are reliable when the difference between the first position and the second position is below a first threshold, and determining that the first position and the second position of the ue are not reliable when the difference between the first position and the second position is above a second threshold.
