a head-wearable extended reality device includes a display arrangement mounted to a frame. the display arrangement includes a first display layer, a second display layer, and a light source that is arranged to illuminate the first display layer and the second display layer. at least one of the first display layer or the second display layer is selectively displaceable relative to the frame. one or more processors are provided to control the display arrangement such that the light source is deactivated during displacement of the first display layer or the second display layer relative to the frame.
