ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR BEAM SEARCHING, AND OPERATION METHOD FOR ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240348313 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR BEAM SEARCHING, AND OPERATION METHOD FOR ELECTRONIC DEVICE

The abstract describes an electronic device that can receive signals from an external device through a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) to determine if a paging message is present. If the paging message contains the device's identification (ID), the device can assess the quality of the received signals and decide whether to search for a new reception beam for wireless communication with the external device.

  • Memory storing computer programs
  • Wireless communication circuit
  • Processors for executing computer programs
  • Receive signals through PDCCH
  • Determine presence of paging message
  • Identify device ID in paging message through PDSCH
  • Assess signal quality
  • Decide on searching for new reception beam

Potential Applications: - Mobile communication devices - IoT devices - Wireless communication systems

Problems Solved: - Efficient signal reception - Quick identification of paging messages - Optimal wireless communication beam selection

Benefits: - Improved communication reliability - Enhanced device connectivity - Faster response to incoming messages

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Wireless Communication Device for Improved Signal Reception" This technology can be used in smartphones, IoT devices, and other wireless communication systems to enhance signal reception and optimize communication performance. It can benefit telecommunications companies, device manufacturers, and consumers looking for reliable and efficient wireless connectivity.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device determine the quality of received signals? The device assesses the quality of the first signal and the synchronization signal block (SSB) received from the external device to make decisions on signal reception and beam selection.

2. What are the potential implications of using this technology in IoT devices? Implementing this technology in IoT devices can lead to improved connectivity, faster response times, and overall enhanced performance in IoT networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device is provided. the electronic device includes memory storing one or more computer programs, a wireless communication circuit, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the memory and the wireless communication circuit, wherein the one or more computer programs include computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to receive, from an external device through a physical downlink control channel (pdcch), a first signal including information indicating whether a paging message is present, in response to identifying that the paging message is present, identify whether an identification (id) of the electronic device is present in the paging message received through a physical downlink shared channel (pdsch), in response to identifying that the id of the electronic device is present in the paging message, identify a quality of the first signal and a quality of a synchronization signal block (ssb) received from the external device, and in response to identifying that at least one of the quality of the first signal or the quality of the ssb satisfies specified conditions, determine whether to search for a new reception beam for wireless communication with the external device.
