an electronic device and method thereof are provided. a method for operating an electronic device configured to record an image includes obtaining a plurality of first images for one or more objects as per a first frame rate using a camera; identifying a designated event for slow motion recording while providing a preview using at least one image among the plurality of first images via a display; based at least in part on the designated event, obtaining a plurality of second images as per a second frame rate higher than the first frame rate using the camera while focusing of the camera is locked; and providing a video related to the one or more objects using at least one of the plurality of second images.
