DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240268168 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The patent application describes a display device with crack detection lines and a common voltage line on the substrate.

  • The display device includes crack detection lines and a common voltage line on the substrate.
  • The crack detection lines are positioned in the non-display area and are electrically connected to each other.
  • A concave portion is defined at the edge of the common voltage line facing the crack detection lines.
  • The crack detection lines help in detecting cracks in the display device.
  • The common voltage line provides a stable voltage supply to the display device.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in various electronic display devices to ensure early detection of cracks and maintain stable voltage supply.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the issue of crack detection and voltage stability in display devices, improving overall reliability and longevity.

Benefits: The technology improves the durability and reliability of display devices by enabling early crack detection and stable voltage supply.

Commercial Applications: This technology can be applied in the manufacturing of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices with display screens.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the crack detection system work in the display device? 2. What are the advantages of having a common voltage line in the display device?

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are continuously exploring new materials and designs to enhance crack detection systems and voltage stability in display devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

a display device includes: a substrate including a display area, and a non-display area defined around the display area, a driver disposed in the non-display area on the substrate, first crack detection lines disposed in the non-display area on the substrate, where a part of each of the first crack detection lines adjacent to an end of the driver extends in parallel with an edge of the substrate, a second crack detection line disposed in the non-display area on the substrate, electrically connected to the first crack detection lines, and positioned between the first crack detection lines and the driver, and a common voltage line disposed in the non-display area on the substrate. a concave portion overlapping at least a part of the second crack detection line in a plan view is defined at an edge portion of the common voltage line facing the first crack detection lines.
