TECHNIQUES FOR DETERMINING BLOOD PRESSURE BASED ON A RELATIVE TIMING OF PULSES - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240315578 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR DETERMINING BLOOD PRESSURE BASED ON A RELATIVE TIMING OF PULSES
Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for determining blood pressure based on the relative timing of pulses. Wearable devices measure heartbeats at different locations on the body to observe heartbeats over time and compare pulse observation times to determine a blood pressure metric.
- Wearable devices measure heartbeats at various locations on the body
- Different physiological locations and penetration depths are considered
- System compares pulse observation times at different locations
- Blood pressure metric is determined based on the relative timing of observed heartbeats
Potential Applications: 1. Healthcare monitoring devices 2. Fitness trackers with blood pressure monitoring capabilities 3. Remote patient monitoring systems
Problems Solved: 1. Non-invasive blood pressure monitoring 2. Continuous monitoring of blood pressure 3. Convenient and wearable solution for tracking health metrics
Benefits: 1. Improved accuracy in blood pressure monitoring 2. Real-time data for healthcare professionals 3. Enhanced user convenience and comfort
Commercial Applications: Title: Wearable Blood Pressure Monitoring Devices: Market Trends and Opportunities This technology can be utilized in the development of wearable health monitoring devices for consumer and medical markets. The market for such devices is expected to grow significantly due to the increasing demand for remote health monitoring solutions.
Questions about Wearable Blood Pressure Monitoring Devices: 1. How does this technology improve the accuracy of blood pressure monitoring? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing wearable blood pressure monitoring devices?
Original Abstract Submitted
methods, systems, and devices for determining blood pressure based on a relative timing of pulses are described. in some implementations, a system may include one or more wearable devices configured to measure heartbeats at different locations on the body of a user. the different locations may be different physiological locations (e.g., chest and finger/wrist), and/or different penetration depths at the same physiological location. the system may use the components of the wearable devices to acquire physiological data and to observe one or more heartbeats of the user over a time period. the system may compare pulse observation times observed at the different locations, and may determine a blood pressure metric for the user based on a relative timing of when heartbeats are observed at the different locations.
