IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240345519 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus that collects transfer residual toner using a collecting roller during the image forming process.

  • The apparatus allows transfer residual toner to adhere temporarily to the collecting roller during operation.
  • After the image forming process is complete, the toner adhered to the collecting roller is moved to an image carrier.
  • The toner is then transferred from the image carrier to an intermediate transfer body for collection by a cleaning mechanism.
  • The control unit manages the application of voltages to the collecting roller based on the toner charge polarity to facilitate toner adhesion and movement.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Transfer residual toner collection process during image forming operation.
  • Temporary adhesion of toner to the collecting roller.
  • Moving toner from the collecting roller to the image carrier.
  • Transferring toner to an intermediate transfer body for collection.
  • Voltage control based on toner charge polarity for effective toner adhesion and movement.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various image forming apparatus such as printers, copiers, and multifunction devices.

Problems Solved:

  • Efficient collection of transfer residual toner.
  • Preventing toner waste and contamination.
  • Improving overall image quality and device maintenance.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced cleaning process for transfer residual toner.
  • Reduced toner waste and environmental impact.
  • Improved image quality and device reliability.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in the development of advanced image forming devices for commercial printing, office use, and industrial applications.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on toner collection methods in image forming devices.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in toner collection techniques, image forming technology, and environmental sustainability in printing industry.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the voltage control on the collecting roller impact toner adhesion and movement? 2. What are the potential cost-saving benefits of efficient transfer residual toner collection in image forming devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus performs a transfer residual toner collection operation including a toner adhesion step of allowing transfer residual toner to temporarily adhere to the collecting roller during execution of image forming operation, a toner moving step of moving the transfer residual toner adhered on the collecting roller to an image carrier after the image forming operation is finished, and a toner collecting step of moving the transfer residual toner from the image carrier to an intermediate transfer body so that a cleaning mechanism can collect the transfer residual toner. the control unit controls an image forming unit having developing current less than a threshold value, to apply the collecting roller with a voltage having the same polarity as toner charge polarity in the toner adhesion step, and to apply the collecting roller with a voltage having opposite polarity to the toner charge polarity in the toner moving step.
