SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING REAL-TIME SYNTHETIC IMAGERY DURING AIRCRAFT FLIGHT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240233203 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING REAL-TIME SYNTHETIC IMAGERY DURING AIRCRAFT FLIGHT
The abstract describes an extended reality system for generating real-time synthetic imagery during a flight of an aircraft. The system connects to a local terrain database via a data network, stores terrain data, receives real-time position and orientation of the aircraft, generates synthetic images, and converts them into media streams for transmission to display devices via a wireless network.
- Terrain subset database stores a subset of terrain data
- Position database receives real-time position and orientation of the aircraft
- Image generator creates real-time synthetic images based on terrain data and aircraft position
- Encoder converts images into media streams for transmission
- Media streams are sent to display devices via a wireless network
Potential Applications: - Flight simulation training - Navigation assistance for pilots - Tourist information during flights
Problems Solved: - Providing real-time synthetic imagery during flight - Enhancing situational awareness for pilots
Benefits: - Improved safety during flights - Enhanced training capabilities for pilots - Real-time visualization of terrain
Commercial Applications: "Real-Time Synthetic Imagery System for Aircraft Navigation and Training"
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the system ensure accuracy in generating real-time synthetic images? 2. What are the potential limitations of using this system in different weather conditions?
Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in extended reality systems for aircraft navigation and training.
Original Abstract Submitted
an extended reality system for generating real-time synthetic imagery during a flight of an aircraft. the system is connectable to a local terrain database via a data network while the aircraft is on the ground and includes: a terrain subset database configured to store a subset of terrain data from the local terrain database; a position database configured to receive a real-time position and orientation of the aircraft during flight; an image generator configured to generate one or more real-time synthetic images of one or more view points from and/or of the aircraft based on the subset of terrain data and the real-time position and orientation of the aircraft; and an encoder configured to convert the one or more real-time synthetic images into one or more media streams. the media streams are configured to be transmitted to one or more display devices via a wireless network.
