IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS PERFORMING HALFTONE PROCESSING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240338542 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS PERFORMING HALFTONE PROCESSING

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus that forms an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive body using multiple scan lines.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Forms an electrostatic latent image using multiple scan lines on a photosensitive body.
  • Scans the photosensitive body in a main scan direction using one or more scanning beams in a sub-scan direction.
  • Stores start position information indicating start positions of the scan lines in the main scan direction.
  • Linearly shifts scan positions of the scan lines in the sub-scan direction relative to a target position with a period of n number of scan lines.
  • Linearly shifts the start positions of n scan lines in the main scan direction along the sub-scan direction based on the start position information.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in various printing and imaging devices to improve image quality and accuracy.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the need for precise and efficient formation of electrostatic latent images on photosensitive bodies.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced image quality.
  • Improved accuracy in image formation.
  • Efficient and precise scanning capabilities.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be applied in photocopiers, laser printers, and other imaging devices to enhance image reproduction and printing quality.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research papers on image forming apparatus and electrostatic latent image formation techniques.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in image forming technology, including improvements in scanning precision and efficiency.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the image forming apparatus improve image quality compared to traditional methods? 2. What are the potential cost-saving benefits of implementing this technology in printing devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes: a unit configured to form an electrostatic latent image using a plurality of scan lines on a photosensitive body by, on a basis of an image signal, performing scanning of the photosensitive body in a main scan direction using one or more scanning beams repeatedly in a sub-scan direction orthogonal to the main scan direction; and a unit configured to store start position information indicating start positions in the main scan direction of the plurality of scan lines. in a case where scan positions in the sub-scan direction of the plurality of scan lines are linearly shifted relative to a target position with a period of n number of scan lines, the start position information indicates to linearly shift the start positions of n scan lines in the main scan direction along the sub-scan direction.
