FIXING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240337971 titled 'FIXING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a fixing apparatus for toner images on recording materials, with a heating member, an opposing member, and a control unit that sets target temperatures based on toner amount information in different regions.

  • The fixing apparatus includes a heating member and an opposing member that nip the recording material.
  • A control unit sets target temperatures based on toner amount information in different regions.
  • The target temperature is adjusted based on toner amount information in regions of different toner images on separate recording materials.
  • The control unit considers conveying intervals between recording materials to set the target temperature for fixing the toner image.

Key Features and Innovation: - Control unit adjusts target temperature based on toner amount information in different regions. - Consideration of conveying intervals between recording materials for temperature setting. - Optimization of fixing process for toner images on recording materials.

Original Abstract Submitted

provided is a fixing apparatus for fixing a toner image on a recording material, including: a heating member; an opposing member which nips the recording material; and a control unit that sets a target temperature of the heating member. the control unit acquires toner amount information for each of a plurality of regions which are separated in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction, and sets, based on (i) a first value which is based on toner amount information in each region of a first toner image formed on a first recording material, (ii) a conveying interval between the first and a second recording material, and (iii) a second value which is based on toner amount information in each region of a second toner image formed on the second recording material, the control unit sets the target temperature to heat the second recording material.
