IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240255888 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes a re-conveyance portion to reverse a sheet with a toner image on one surface and convey it back to the transfer portion. It also has detecting portions to determine the position of the sheet in a widthwise direction.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Re-conveyance portion to reverse and re-convey sheets for double-sided printing.
  • Detecting portions to accurately determine sheet positions for precise image transfer.
  • Controller to determine image forming positions based on detected sheet positions.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in printers and copiers for double-sided printing, reducing paper waste and improving efficiency in document production.

Problems Solved:

  • Enables efficient double-sided printing without manual intervention.
  • Ensures accurate image transfer alignment for high-quality prints.

Benefits:

  • Reduces paper waste and saves costs.
  • Improves printing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Enhances overall print quality.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be applied in office printers, commercial printing services, and document management systems to streamline printing processes and improve productivity.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or publications on double-sided printing mechanisms and sheet position detection in printing devices.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in image forming apparatus technology, such as improved sheet handling mechanisms and enhanced image transfer processes.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. What are the key components of an image forming apparatus? 2. How does the re-conveyance portion contribute to the efficiency of the printing process?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a re-conveyance portion to reverse a sheet on which a first toner image is transferred on a first surface by a transfer portion and to convey the sheet to the transfer portion again, and first and second detecting portions to detect positions in a widthwise direction of the sheet. the first detecting portion detects a first detecting position before the first toner image is transferred to first surface and the second detecting portion detects a second detecting position after the first toner image is transferred and before a second toner image is transferred on a second surface. a controller determines a first image forming position where a latent image is formed on a photosensitive member before the first detecting position is detected and determines a second image forming position based on the first image forming position, and the first and second detecting positions.
