a shovel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes an operation mode setting unit that selectively sets an operation mode to be used from among a plurality of operation modes having different output characteristics related to an operation of the shovel in response to an input from a user to an operation mode changeover switch, a mode level setting unit that selectively sets a level to be used in the operation mode from among a plurality of levels of output related to an operation of the shovel defined for each of the plurality of operation modes in response to the input from the user to a mode level adjustment dial, and a storage unit that stores the level set in the operation mode before switching in association with the operation mode before switching when the operation mode is switched by the operation mode setting unit.
