PRINTING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18736501 titled 'PRINTING DEVICE

The patent application describes a printing device that prevents the accumulation of a mixture of ink and washing solution when cleaning a print head.

  • The device ensures that the length of the nozzle region with liquid repellency is greater than the length of the washing solution holding surface.
  • This configuration helps in effectively washing the nozzle surface without leaving any residue.
  • By maintaining the proper relationship between the lengths of different surfaces, the device optimizes the cleaning process for the print head.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be used in various types of printing devices such as inkjet printers, 3D printers, and industrial printing machines.
  • It can improve the efficiency and longevity of print heads by ensuring thorough cleaning after each use.

Problems Solved:

  • Prevents clogging and residue buildup in print heads, leading to better print quality.
  • Reduces maintenance requirements and extends the lifespan of printing devices.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced print quality and consistency.
  • Reduced downtime for maintenance and cleaning.
  • Cost savings due to decreased ink and solution wastage.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology can be valuable for companies in the printing industry looking to improve the performance and reliability of their printing equipment.
  • It can also benefit businesses that rely on high-quality printing for their operations, such as advertising agencies and packaging companies.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this device compare to traditional print head cleaning methods? 2. What are the potential cost savings for businesses implementing this technology?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research in the field of print head technology may lead to further advancements in cleaning mechanisms and materials, enhancing the effectiveness of devices like the one described in the patent application.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a printing device that suppresses remaining of a mixture of an ink and a washing solution in a case of washing a print head. In a case where a length of a nozzle surface of a print head, which jets the ink from a plurality of nozzles disposed on a nozzle surface, in a first direction is defined as Lp, a length of a nozzle region of the nozzle surface, which has liquid repellency, in the first direction is defined as Ln, and a length of the washing solution holding surface of a washing solution holding member, which washes the nozzle surface facing the washing solution holding surface with the washing solution applied to the washing solution holding surface, in the first direction is defined as Lc, a relationship of Ln<Lc<Lp is satisfied.
