SWITCH DRIVE DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18648928 titled 'SWITCH DRIVE DEVICE

The patent application describes a switch driving device that controls an upper arm switch and a lower arm switch connected in series.

  • The determiner in the device determines the on/off status of each switch.
  • The driver turns on the other switch if one is determined to be off.
  • Determination parameters can be adjusted based on the characteristics of the switches.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in prosthetic devices to enhance functionality. - It can also be applied in robotics for precise control of arm movements.

Problems Solved: - Ensures continuous operation by activating the other switch if one fails. - Provides flexibility in adjusting parameters for different switch types.

Benefits: - Improved reliability in switch operation. - Enhanced adaptability to various arm switch configurations.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Switch Driving Device for Prosthetics and Robotics This technology can be commercialized in the prosthetics industry for more efficient and reliable prosthetic arm control systems. It can also be utilized in the robotics sector for precise and responsive robotic arm movements, enhancing automation processes.

Original Abstract Submitted

A switch driving device for driving an upper arm switch, which is a switch on an upper arm, and a lower arm switch, which is a switch on a lower arm, where the upper arm and lower arm switches are electrically connected in series with each other. In the switch driving device, a determiner is configured to determine, for each of the upper arm and lower arm switches, whether the switch is on or off, and a driver is configured to, in response to the determiner determining that one of the upper arm and lower arm switches is off, turn on the other of the upper arm and lower arm switches. The determiner is further configured to variably set determination parameters for determining whether a respective one of the upper arm and lower arm switches is on or off, according to characteristics of the upper arm and lower arm switches.
