ANTENNA ASSEMBLY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18625515 titled 'ANTENNA ASSEMBLY

The antenna assembly described in the patent application consists of a flexible whip antenna with various components such as a mounting connector, a cable, a bottom spring coil, an adaptor, and a rod radiator.

  • The mounting connector is connected to an antenna feed, while the cable is attached to both the mounting connector and the adaptor.
  • The bottom spring coil surrounds the cable and is connected to the mounting connector, providing support and flexibility.
  • The rod radiator is linked to the adaptor and can move relative to the mounting connector due to the cable's flexibility.

Potential Applications: - This antenna assembly could be used in various communication devices such as radios, walkie-talkies, or even mobile phones. - It could also be utilized in vehicles for improved signal reception and transmission.

Problems Solved: - The antenna assembly addresses the need for a flexible yet sturdy antenna design that can adapt to different environments and usage scenarios.

Benefits: - The flexible nature of the antenna allows for better signal reception and transmission in various conditions. - The components work together to provide a durable and reliable antenna solution for communication devices.

Commercial Applications: - The antenna assembly could be of interest to manufacturers of communication devices looking to improve the performance of their products. - Companies in the automotive industry could also benefit from incorporating this antenna design into their vehicles for better connectivity.

Questions about the Antenna Assembly: 1. How does the bottom spring coil contribute to the overall functionality of the antenna assembly?

The bottom spring coil provides support and flexibility to the cable, allowing for movement and adjustment of the rod radiator.

2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this antenna assembly in different types of communication devices?

The main challenge could be ensuring compatibility and integration with existing device designs and components.

Original Abstract Submitted

An antenna assembly includes a flexible whip antenna having a mounting connector, a cable coupled to the mounting connector, a bottom spring coil surrounding the cable and coupled to the mounting connector, an adaptor coupled to the cable, and a rod radiator coupled to the adaptor. The mounting connector is coupled to an antenna feed. The cable extends between a first end, terminated to the mounting connector, and a second end, terminated to the adaptor. The bottom spring coil concentrically surrounds the first end of the cable and is terminated to the mounting connector. The rod radiator extends between a first end, terminated to the adaptor, and a second end. The cable is flexible to move the rod radiator relative to the mounting connector.
