VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18620707 titled 'VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a system where a vehicle control apparatus tracks an adjacent preceding vehicle as a target for control based on the acceleration request inputted for the own vehicle.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Vehicle control apparatus tracks adjacent preceding vehicle as a target for control.
  • Operated acceleration request for own vehicle triggers tracking control.
  • System predicts likelihood of adjacent preceding vehicle changing lanes.
  • Tracking control is terminated if adjacent preceding vehicle is unlikely to change lanes.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in autonomous driving systems, adaptive cruise control, and collision avoidance systems.

Problems Solved:

  • Enhances safety by tracking adjacent vehicles for better control.
  • Improves efficiency by predicting lane changes of preceding vehicles.

Benefits:

  • Increased safety on the road.
  • Enhanced driving experience with smoother control.
  • Improved traffic flow and efficiency.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include integration into self-driving cars, advanced driver assistance systems, and fleet management solutions.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include research on adaptive cruise control systems and vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocols.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in autonomous driving technology, vehicle control systems, and predictive analytics for traffic management.

Questions about Vehicle Tracking Technology: 1. How does this technology improve road safety? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this system in real-world driving scenarios?

By providing a detailed and informative overview of the patent application, this content aims to educate readers on the innovative vehicle tracking technology and its potential applications in the automotive industry.

Original Abstract Submitted

When determining that, with an adjacent preceding vehicle selected as a tracking-control target, (i) an operated acceleration request for an own vehicle has been inputted to a vehicle control apparatus and (ii) the adjacent preceding vehicle is likely to be changed as an own-lane preceding vehicle, the vehicle control apparatus performs tracking control of the own vehicle with respect to the adjacent preceding vehicle. When determining that, with the adjacent preceding vehicle selected as the tracking-control target, (i) the operated acceleration request for the own vehicle has been inputted to the vehicle control apparatus and (ii) the adjacent preceding vehicle is unlikely to be changed as an own-lane preceding vehicle, the vehicle control apparatus terminates the tracking control of the own vehicle.
