VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18618671 titled 'VEHICLE CONTROL APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The vehicle control apparatus in this patent application automatically controls the braking system of a vehicle. It can restrict the operation of the braking system if it determines that the durability of the system has decreased.

  • The vehicle control apparatus sets a restricted mode for automatic braking control when the braking system's durability is low.
  • The restricted mode limits the braking system's operation based on factors related to deceleration requests.
  • The apparatus decides whether to brake the vehicle based on the deceleration request, the restricted mode, and the factors for the deceleration request.

Key Features and Innovation

  • Automatic braking control of a vehicle's braking system.
  • Ability to determine the durability of the braking system.
  • Implementation of a restricted mode for controlling the braking system operation.
  • Consideration of factors related to deceleration requests in decision-making.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in:

  • Automotive industry for enhancing vehicle safety.
  • Autonomous vehicles for improved control systems.
  • Fleet management for monitoring braking system health.

Problems Solved

  • Ensures safe braking operation even when the braking system's durability is compromised.
  • Prevents potential accidents due to faulty braking systems.
  • Enhances overall vehicle performance and safety.

Benefits

  • Improved safety on the roads.
  • Enhanced durability and longevity of braking systems.
  • Better control and management of vehicle braking operations.

Commercial Applications

Title: Enhanced Vehicle Safety System with Automatic Braking Control This technology can be utilized in:

  • Automotive manufacturing companies for integrating advanced safety features.
  • Fleet management companies for ensuring the reliability of braking systems.
  • Autonomous vehicle developers for enhancing control mechanisms.

Questions about the Technology

How does the vehicle control apparatus determine the durability of the braking system?

The vehicle control apparatus likely uses sensors and monitoring systems to assess the wear and tear on the braking system components.

What are the factors considered for deceleration requests in the restricted mode?

The factors for deceleration requests in the restricted mode may include speed, road conditions, and the distance to obstacles.

Original Abstract Submitted

A vehicle control apparatus performs automatic braking control of a braking apparatus of a vehicle. The vehicle control apparatus determines durability of the braking apparatus and sets a control mode of automatic braking control to a restricted mode in which operation of the braking apparatus is restricted in response to determining that the durability of the braking apparatus has decreased. The restricted mode restricts execution of operation of the braking apparatus based on a generating factor for a deceleration request of the vehicle. The vehicle control apparatus determines whether to perform braking of the vehicle based on the deceleration request, based on the restricted mode and the generating factor for the deceleration request, in response to the deceleration request of the vehicle being generated.
