METHODS OF PAGING PROCEDURES FOR REDUCED BANDWIDTH WTRUs - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18606244 titled 'METHODS OF PAGING PROCEDURES FOR REDUCED BANDWIDTH WTRUs

Simplified Explanation:

The patent application describes a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that can receive and monitor paging occasions (PO) based on the WTRU's identity. The WTRU can then receive downlink control information (DCI) and physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions, including paging messages.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • WTRU receives PO monitoring indication information in first DCI.
  • WTRU determines first PO based on WTRU-ID.
  • WTRU monitors for second DCI based on PO monitoring indication information.
  • WTRU receives second DCI in the first PO.
  • WTRU receives PDSCH transmission based on the second DCI.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in wireless communication systems to efficiently deliver paging messages to specific WTRUs based on their identities.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of efficiently paging specific WTRUs in wireless networks without causing unnecessary signaling overhead.

Benefits:

  • Improved paging efficiency.
  • Reduced signaling overhead.
  • Enhanced communication reliability.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include mobile network operators, IoT device manufacturers, and other wireless communication service providers looking to optimize paging procedures in their networks.

Prior Art: Readers interested in prior art related to this technology can explore research papers, patents, and standards related to wireless communication systems and paging procedures.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of wireless communications may be conducting studies on optimizing paging procedures in 5G networks or exploring new techniques for efficient paging in IoT networks.

Questions about Wireless Paging Technology: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of paging in wireless networks? 2. What are the key factors that determine the success of paging specific WTRUs based on their identities?

Original Abstract Submitted

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a paging occasion (PO) monitoring indication information in first downlink control information (DCI). The WTRU may determine a first paging occasion (PO), wherein the first PO is based on a WTRU-identity (ID) for the WTRU. Further, the WTRU may monitor, based on the PO monitoring indication information, for second DCI in the first PO. Also, the WTRU may receive second DCI in the first PO. Further, the WTRU may receive a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission based on the second DCI. In an example, the PDSCH transmission may include a paging message. Also, the first PO may be within a paging frame (PF) and the PO monitoring indication information may be received prior to the first PO, in a further example.
