SIMULTANEOUS UPLINK AND SIDELINK OPERATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18595903 titled 'SIMULTANEOUS UPLINK AND SIDELINK OPERATION
The abstract describes an apparatus that determines the prioritization of a sidelink (SL) logical channel group (LCG) based on SL and uplink (UL) prioritization thresholds, given a configured UL prioritization threshold. The apparatus assesses if the SL LCG's prioritization value is lower than the SL threshold and if the UL LCG has a prioritization value equal to or higher than the UL threshold. It also decides whether to prioritize SL buffer status reporting based on the UL grant size and the SL LCG prioritization determination.
- The apparatus determines SL LCG prioritization based on SL and UL thresholds.
- It evaluates if the SL LCG's prioritization value is lower than the SL threshold.
- It checks if the UL LCG has a prioritization value equal to or higher than the UL threshold.
- The apparatus decides whether to prioritize SL buffer status reporting based on UL grant size and SL LCG prioritization.
- It reports buffer status based on the prioritization decision.

Original Abstract Submitted
An apparatus may be configured to determine whether to prioritize a sidelink (SL) logical channel group (LCG) based on an SL prioritization threshold and a UL prioritization threshold, on a condition that a UL prioritization threshold is configured. The apparatus may be configured to determine whether a prioritization value associated with the SL LCG is lower than the SL prioritization threshold. The apparatus may be configured to determine (e.g., at least) whether an uplink (UL) LCG has a prioritization value that is equal to or higher than the UL prioritization threshold. The apparatus may be configured to determine whether to prioritize SL buffer status reporting (BSR) based on a size of a UL grant and the determination of whether to prioritize the SL LCG. The apparatus may be configured to report a buffer status based on the determination of whether to prioritize the SL BSR.
