PRINTING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PRINTING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18595640 titled 'PRINTING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PRINTING APPARATUS, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation: The patent application aims to reduce bleeding near borders between image regions with different color ink densities using a printing apparatus that controls the application of a reaction liquid based on estimated bleeding.

  • **Printhead ejects color ink and reaction liquid**
  • **Application amount control unit adjusts reaction liquid application based on estimated bleeding**
  • **Processing near borders between regions with different ink densities**
  • **Increasing reaction liquid application for regions with lower ink density**
  • **Improving print quality by reducing bleeding**

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in the printing industry for high-quality image reproduction, especially in color printing where bleeding can affect image clarity and sharpness.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the issue of bleeding near borders between image regions with varying color ink densities, ensuring precise and accurate printing results.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced print quality
  • Reduction of bleeding in color printing
  • Improved image sharpness and clarity

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in commercial printing services, photo printing labs, and graphic design studios to produce high-quality prints with minimal bleeding near color transitions.

Prior Art: For prior art related to this technology, researchers can explore patents in the field of printing technologies, color management, and inkjet printing methods.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of printing technologies and color management may conduct studies on optimizing reaction liquid application for reducing bleeding in color printing processes.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the technology estimate bleeding near borders between image regions? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this technology in commercial printing services?

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure aims to reduce bleeding occurring near a border between image regions with different color ink densities. An embodiment of the present invention is a printing apparatus having a printhead ejecting a color ink and a reaction liquid reacting with the color ink and an application amount control unit that controls a reaction liquid application amount by, in image data representing the reaction liquid application amount of each pixel, estimating bleeding for each pixel and then according to the estimated bleeding, executing processing near a border between image regions having different color ink densities, the image regions being a first region having a first reaction liquid density and a second region having a second reaction liquid density lower than the first reaction liquid density, the processing being increasing the reaction liquid application amount for the second region based on the reaction liquid application amount for the first region.
