LOW LATENCY FRAME NOTIFICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18583437 titled 'LOW LATENCY FRAME NOTIFICATION

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method and apparatus for wireless communications, where a wireless device can pause or resume data transmission within a transmit opportunity (TXOP) based on a frame indicating a preemption allowance for low latency indication frame transmission from another wireless device.

  • Key Features and Innovation:
  • Wireless device with a transceiver for communication within a TXOP.
  • Ability to receive a frame indicating preemption allowance for low latency indication frame transmission.
  • Controller to control data transmission pause/resume based on the received frame.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in various wireless communication systems where low latency is crucial, such as in industrial automation, real-time monitoring, and mission-critical applications.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the need for efficient and timely data transmission in wireless communication systems, especially when low latency is required for critical operations.

Benefits:

  • Improved reliability and efficiency in wireless communication.
  • Enhanced responsiveness in transmitting low latency indication frames.
  • Better coordination between wireless devices in a network.

Commercial Applications: The technology could find applications in industries such as healthcare, transportation, and smart cities, where real-time data transmission and low latency communication are essential for operations.

Questions about Wireless Communications: 1. How does this technology improve the overall performance of wireless communication systems? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this method in different wireless devices and networks?

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are continually exploring ways to enhance the efficiency and reliability of wireless communication systems, including advancements in low latency data transmission and network coordination.

Original Abstract Submitted

Embodiments of a method and apparatus for wireless communications are disclosed. In an embodiment, a wireless device includes a wireless transceiver configured to communicate within a transmit opportunity (TXOP), where the wireless transceiver is further configured to receive a frame indicating a preemption allowance for low latency indication frame transmission from a second wireless device, and a controller configured to control the wireless transceiver to pause or resume data transmission within the TXOP in response to the frame indicating the preemption allowance for low latency indication frame transmission from the second wireless device.
