MEDICAL APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18582964 titled 'MEDICAL APPARATUS
The abstract describes a medical apparatus with a drive source, a bending portion, a linear body to bend the bending portion, and a connecting portion that maintains the state of a protrusion portion in a recess portion based on the forces acting between the members.
- The medical apparatus includes a drive source, a bending portion, a linear body, and a connecting portion.
- The connecting portion adjusts the state of the protrusion portion in the recess portion based on the forces acting between the members.
- When forces are below threshold values, the protrusion portion remains fitted in the recess portion.
- When forces exceed threshold values, the protrusion portion is disengaged from the recess portion.
Potential Applications: - Minimally invasive medical procedures - Endoscopic surgeries - Robotic surgical instruments

Original Abstract Submitted
A medical apparatus includes a drive source, a bending portion, a linear body configured to bend the bending portion, and a connecting portion in which a first member connected to the drive source and a second member connected to the linear body are connected. The connecting portion is configured such that in a case where a tensile force equal to or smaller than a first threshold value or a compressive force equal to or smaller than a second threshold value acts between the first member and the second member, the state in which a protrusion portion is fitted in the recess portion is maintained, and in a case where a tensile force exceeding the first threshold value or a compressive force exceeding the second threshold value acts between the first member and the second member, the protrusion portion is disengaged from the recess portion.
