INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18573198 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE AND METHOD

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method to improve encoding efficiency by deleting internal vertices of a mesh representing a 3D object, generating vertex connection information, and encoding it. The process also involves decoding coded data to reconstruct vertices and connections using the obtained information.

  • Internal vertices of a mesh representing a 3D object are deleted to improve encoding efficiency.
  • Vertex connection information is generated to indicate vertices and connections within the mesh.
  • The vertex connection information is encoded to facilitate data processing.
  • Coded data of boundary vertices is decoded to reconstruct vertices and connections within a patch of a geometry image.

Original Abstract Submitted

There is provided an information processing apparatus, an electronic device, an information processing method, and a program capable of suppressing reduction in encoding efficiency. At least some of internal vertices which are vertices of a mesh representing an object having a three-dimensional structure and positioned other than the boundary of a patch of a geometry are deleted, vertex connection information indicating the vertices of the mesh and connections between the vertices is generated, and the vertex connection information is encoded. Furthermore, coded data of vertex connection information indicating boundary vertices which are vertices of a mesh representing an object having a three-dimensional structure and positioned at least at the boundary of a patch of a geometry and connections between the boundary vertices is decoded, and the vertices positioned in the patch and the connections between the vertices are reconstructed using the vertex connection information obtained by decoding the coded data and a geometry image in which the patch is arranged on a two-dimensional plane.
