APPARATUS, IMAGING APPARATUS, AND METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18516413 titled 'APPARATUS, IMAGING APPARATUS, AND METHOD
Simplified Explanation
The apparatus described in the patent application is designed to track a subject in a captured image and bring it close to a target position. The tracking amount is calculated based on the subject's position in the image and the target position, and subject tracking is controlled accordingly. The apparatus also sets different regions based on various factors, where subject tracking is performed to a lesser degree in the first region compared to the second region.
- Acquisition unit acquires information about a subject detected from a captured image
- Calculation unit calculates a tracking amount based on subject position and target position
- Control unit controls subject tracking to bring subject position close to target position
- Setting unit sets first and second regions with different levels of subject tracking
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in various fields such as photography, surveillance, and robotics for tracking and following subjects accurately.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of accurately tracking and bringing a subject in a captured image close to a target position, improving the overall quality of the image or video.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved subject tracking, enhanced image quality, and increased efficiency in various applications where subject tracking is essential.
Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications of this technology include camera systems, security systems, autonomous vehicles, and video production equipment.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art for this technology could be existing subject tracking algorithms used in photography and video recording devices.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology handle moving subjects in the captured image?
The patent abstract does not specify how the apparatus deals with moving subjects in the captured image. It would be interesting to know if the technology can effectively track and follow subjects that are in motion.
What is the accuracy of subject tracking in different lighting conditions?
The abstract does not mention how the apparatus performs in various lighting conditions. It would be important to understand the technology's capabilities in low light or high contrast situations.
Original Abstract Submitted
An apparatus comprises an acquisition unit that acquires information about a subject detected from a captured image, a calculation unit that calculates a tracking amount based on a position of the subject in the captured image and a target position, a control unit that controls subject tracking to bring the position of the subject in the captured image close to the target position, based on the tracking amount, and a setting unit that sets first and second regions based on at least any of a holding state of an imaging apparatus that captures the captured image, a detection result of an operation performed by a photographer on the imaging apparatus, a position in the captured image of the target position, and a type of the subject, wherein, in the first region, a degree to which the subject tracking is performed is lower than in the second region.
