TRAFFIC AWARE UE TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18490619 titled 'TRAFFIC AWARE UE TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a system in a User Equipment (UE) that can predict the risk of overheating based on the type of service, UE status, sensor information, and communication configuration. It then suggests a new communication configuration to mitigate the risk.
- The processor in the UE detects the type of service, UE status, and sensor information.
- Based on this data, it predicts the risk of overheating.
- It then proposes a new communication configuration to prevent overheating.
- The transceiver transmits this new configuration information to a Base Station (BS).
Key Features and Innovation
- Prediction of overheating risk in a UE based on various factors.
- Automatic suggestion of a new communication configuration to prevent overheating.
Potential Applications
The technology can be used in mobile devices, IoT devices, and other wireless communication systems to prevent overheating and improve performance.
Problems Solved
The technology addresses the issue of overheating in UEs, which can lead to performance degradation and hardware damage.
Benefits

Questions about the Technology
Question 1
How does the system in the UE determine the risk of overheating based on the service type and communication configuration?
The system analyzes the traffic history of the UE, current service type, UE status, sensor information, and communication configuration to predict the risk of overheating.
Question 2
What are the potential implications of implementing this technology in IoT devices?
Implementing this technology in IoT devices can lead to improved device performance, increased reliability, and extended device lifespan, ultimately enhancing the overall efficiency of IoT systems.
Original Abstract Submitted
A UE includes a processor configured to detect a type of service currently active at the UE based on a traffic history of the UE, determine UE status and sensor information, and determine a current communication configuration for the UE. The processor is further configured to, based on the service type, the UE status and sensor information, and the current communication configuration, predict a risk of the UE overheating; and based on the predicted risk of the UE overheating, identify a new communication configuration to propose for use by the UE. The UE further includes a transceiver operably coupled to the processor, the transceiver configured to transmit, to a BS, information indicating the new communication configuration.
