SURGICAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH MULTIPLE CAMERAS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18461630 titled 'SURGICAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH MULTIPLE CAMERAS

The abstract describes an imaging system that utilizes two cameras to capture video streams of different tissue surfaces, which are then processed to generate a 3D volume with modified video streams for display on a screen.

  • The system includes a first camera capturing a video stream of a tissue surface and a second camera capturing a video stream of another tissue surface.
  • A video processing device modifies the video streams to create a 3D volume with modified content.
  • The 3D volume with modified video streams is displayed on a screen for viewing.

Potential Applications: - Medical imaging for detailed visualization of tissue surfaces. - Surgical procedures for enhanced guidance and precision. - Research in biology and anatomy for in-depth analysis of tissue structures.

Problems Solved: - Improved visualization of tissue surfaces in 3D. - Enhanced understanding of tissue structures and relationships. - Increased accuracy in medical procedures and research.

Benefits: - Enhanced imaging capabilities for medical professionals. - Improved accuracy and precision in surgical procedures. - Advanced research opportunities in biology and anatomy.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Medical Imaging System for Enhanced Visualization This technology can be used in medical facilities, research institutions, and surgical centers to improve imaging quality, accuracy, and efficiency in various applications.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this imaging system improve upon traditional 2D imaging methods? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this advanced imaging system in medical settings?

Original Abstract Submitted

An imaging system includes a first camera configured to capture a first video stream of a first tissue surface and a second camera configured to capture a second video stream of a second tissue surface, the first tissue surface opposing the second tissue surface of the tissue. The system also includes a video processing device configured to receive the first video stream from the first camera and the second video stream from the second camera and modify at least one the first video stream or the second video stream based on one the first video stream or the second video stream to generate a 3D volume having a modified video stream. The system further includes a first screen coupled to the video processing device and configured to display the 3D volume with the modified video stream.
