DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18440801 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract of the patent application describes a display device with multiple layers that enable the operation of a light emitting element.

  • The display device includes a base layer on a plane defined by a first direction and a second direction different from the first direction.
  • A front surface backplane layer is located on the base layer, housing a light emitting element.
  • The front surface backplane layer consists of a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer.
  • The first layer contains a first power line that extends in both the first and second directions.
  • The second layer features a pixel circuit responsible for driving the light emitting element.
  • The third layer includes a second power line that also extends in both the first and second directions.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various types of display devices such as televisions, monitors, and smartphones. - It can also be applied in digital signage, advertising displays, and wearable technology.

Problems Solved: - The display device addresses the need for efficient and effective driving of light emitting elements in a display. - It provides a structured approach to power distribution and pixel control within the device.

Benefits: - Improved display performance with precise pixel control. - Enhanced energy efficiency due to optimized power distribution. - Increased durability and reliability of the display device.

Commercial Applications: - The technology can be utilized in consumer electronics, advertising industry, and automotive displays. - It has the potential to impact the market by offering advanced display solutions with better performance and energy efficiency.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the display device improve pixel control compared to traditional displays? 2. What are the key advantages of having power lines that extend in multiple directions within the layers of the device?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes a base layer on a plane defined by a first direction and a second direction different from the first direction, a front surface backplane layer on the base layer, and a light emitting element on the front surface backplane layer. The front surface backplane layer includes a first layer, a second layer on the first layer, and a third layer on the second layer. The first layer includes a first power line, a portion of the first power line extends in the first direction and another portion of the first power line extends in the second direction. The second layer includes a pixel circuit configured to drive the light emitting element. The third layer includes a second power line, a portion of the second power line extends in the first direction and another portion of the second power line extends in the second direction.
