DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18415944 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

The abstract describes a display apparatus with light-emitting devices, color conversion layers, and banks containing scattering particles and a polymer host.

  • Light-emitting devices are placed on a substrate.
  • Color conversion layers correspond to the light-emitting devices.
  • Banks are located between adjacent color conversion layers.
  • Each bank contains first and second scattering particles with different refractive indices compared to the polymer host.
  • The first scattering particles have a higher refractive index than the polymer host.

Potential Applications: - Display technology for electronic devices - Lighting applications in commercial and residential settings - Signage and advertising displays

Problems Solved: - Enhancing color conversion efficiency - Improving light output uniformity - Reducing light leakage in display panels

Benefits: - Enhanced color accuracy and vibrancy - Increased energy efficiency - Improved overall display performance

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Display Technology for Enhanced Visual Experiences This technology can be utilized in: - Smartphones, tablets, and laptops - TVs and monitors - Automotive displays

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the different refractive indices of the scattering particles and polymer host contribute to the display performance? 2. What are the specific advantages of using multiple color conversion layers in this display apparatus?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes multiple light-emitting devices are disposed on a substrate, multiple color conversion layers disposed on the substrate and corresponding to the light-emitting devices, and multiple banks disposed between adjacent ones of the color conversion layers. Each of the banks includes first scattering particles, second scattering particles, and a polymer host. A refractive index (n) of the first scattering particles is greater than a refractive index (n) of the polymer host. The refractive index (n) of the first scattering particles and a refractive index (n) of the second scattering particles are different.
