BIOMOLECULE DETECTION METHOD, COMPUTING DEVICE PERFORMING THE METHOD, AND BIOMOLECULE DETECTION SYSTEM THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18307715 titled 'BIOMOLECULE DETECTION METHOD, COMPUTING DEVICE PERFORMING THE METHOD, AND BIOMOLECULE DETECTION SYSTEM THEREFOR
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a method of detecting a biomolecule using terahertz signals and digital modulation characteristics.
- The method involves receiving terahertz signals that passed through deionized water or a reference material, as well as terahertz signals that passed through a target containing a specific biomolecule.
- Digital modulation characteristics are extracted from the received signals, and the predetermined biomolecule in the target is detected by analyzing these characteristics.
- The terahertz signals are generated using a digitally modulated optical signal based on the transmission speed determined by the kinematics of the biomolecule.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in various fields such as medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical research, and environmental monitoring.
Problems Solved
This technology provides a non-invasive and sensitive method for detecting specific biomolecules, which can be crucial in early disease diagnosis and monitoring.
Benefits
The method offers high sensitivity and specificity in biomolecule detection, potentially leading to improved healthcare outcomes and more efficient research processes.
Potential Commercial Applications
Potential commercial applications include medical device development, biotechnology research tools, and environmental monitoring systems.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be the use of terahertz spectroscopy for biomolecule detection, but the specific method described in this patent application involving digital modulation characteristics may be a novel approach.
Unanswered Questions
1. How does the digital modulation characteristic extraction process work in detail? 2. What specific biomolecules have been successfully detected using this method in testing?
Original Abstract Submitted
A method of detecting a biomolecule, a computing device performing the method, and a biomolecule detection system therefor are provided. The method includes receiving a terahertz signal that passed deionized water or reference material, receiving a terahertz signal that passed a target including a predetermined biomolecule, extracting a digital modulation characteristic for the received terahertz signal that passed the deionized water and the received terahertz signal that passed the target, and detecting the predetermined biomolecule included in the target by analyzing the extracted digital modulation characteristic, wherein the received terahertz signal that passed the deionized water and the received terahertz signal that passed the target are generated using a digitally modulated optical signal based on a transmission speed determined based on kinematics of the predetermined biomolecule.
