INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENT RESOURCES FOR CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18261979 titled 'INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENT RESOURCES FOR CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications, focusing on channel and interference measurements for transmission configurations.

  • User equipment (UE) receives indications of channel measurement resources (CMRs) and interference measurement resources (IMRs) associated with different transmission configuration indicators (TCIs).
  • The UE obtains interference measurements using the IMRs for a channel state information (CSI) report related to joint transmission hypotheses.
  • The UE transmits the CSI report based on the interference measurements obtained.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Utilizes different CMRs and IMRs for interference measurements in wireless communications.
  • Enhances the accuracy of CSI reports by considering interference measurements from multiple resources.
  • Improves the efficiency of transmission configurations based on interference data.

Potential Applications:

  • 5G and beyond wireless communication systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • Mobile networks and cellular technologies

Problems Solved:

  • Addressing interference issues in wireless communications
  • Optimizing transmission configurations for better performance
  • Enhancing the reliability of CSI reports in varying channel conditions

Benefits:

  • Improved network performance and reliability
  • Enhanced quality of service for users
  • Efficient utilization of resources in wireless networks

Commercial Applications: Wireless network equipment manufacturers can integrate this technology to improve the performance and reliability of their products, leading to better user experiences and increased market competitiveness.

Questions about Wireless Communications: 1. How does this technology impact the efficiency of wireless networks? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing interference measurements for CSI reports in wireless communications?

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an indication of a first channel measurement resource (CMR) associated with a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state and a second CMR associated with a second TCI state. The UE may also receive an indication of a first interference measurement resource (IMR) associated with the first CMR and a second (IMR) associated with the second CMR. The UE may obtain an interference measurement using the first IMR, the second IMR, or both, for a channel state information (CSI) report for ajoint transmission hypothesis associated with the CMR and the second CMR. The UE may transmit the CSI report based at least in part on the interference measurement (s).
