MODIFYING GLOBALLY OR REGIONALLY SUPPLIED SURGICAL INFORMATION RELATED TO A SURGICAL PROCEDURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18092055 titled 'MODIFYING GLOBALLY OR REGIONALLY SUPPLIED SURGICAL INFORMATION RELATED TO A SURGICAL PROCEDURE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a system where a surgical computing device can adjust surgical information from a cloud server based on certain criteria, such as privacy laws or device availability in a healthcare facility.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Surgical computing device adjusts global or regional surgical information based on criteria.
  • Criteria may include privacy laws, procedures, techniques, or device availability.
  • Device receives global surgical information from cloud server and obtains local surgical information.
  • Device adjusts global information based on local data and sends it to a surgical instrument.

Potential Applications: This technology could be used in surgical settings to ensure that the most relevant and up-to-date information is available to healthcare professionals during procedures.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of integrating global and local surgical information to optimize patient care and surgical outcomes.

Benefits:

  • Improved accuracy and relevance of surgical information.
  • Enhanced patient safety and care.
  • Streamlined communication between cloud servers and surgical instruments.

Commercial Applications: The technology could be valuable for medical device companies, hospitals, and healthcare facilities looking to enhance their surgical procedures and patient care protocols.

Prior Art: While there is no specific prior art mentioned in the abstract, researchers could explore existing patents related to edge computing in healthcare and surgical procedures.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of healthcare technology and surgical procedures may be conducting studies on the impact of edge computing on patient outcomes and surgical efficiency.

Questions about Surgical Computing Devices: 1. How does this technology improve the efficiency of surgical procedures? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing surgical computing devices in healthcare settings?

By focusing on the integration of global and local surgical information, this technology aims to enhance patient care and surgical outcomes in healthcare facilities.

Original Abstract Submitted

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided where a surgical computing device may adjust global or regional surgical information provided by an enterprise cloud server based on at least one criteria. The criteria may include one or more of: privacy laws, procedures, techniques or device availability within a healthcare facility where the surgical procedure is being performed. A surgical computing device/edge computing device may receive global or regional surgical information associated with a surgical procedure from an enterprise cloud server. The surgical computing device/edge computing device may obtain local surgical information associated with a patient and/or a patient's location. The surgical computing device/edge computing device may adjust or modify at least a portion of the global or regional surgical information associated with a local surgical procedure and/or the patient. The surgical computing device/edge computing device may send the adjusted global or regional surgical information to a surgical instrument.
