BACKSCATTER-BASED POSITIONING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18060331 titled 'BACKSCATTER-BASED POSITIONING
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning.
- The method involves receiving multiple measurement reports associated with a tag device, each report including measurements from different transmission/reception points (TRPs) of a group of TRPs.
- The position of the tag device is determined based on the multiple measurement reports and the tag delay of the tag device.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in various industries such as logistics, asset tracking, and indoor navigation systems.
Problems Solved
This technology solves the problem of accurately determining the position of a tag device in wireless communication systems.
Benefits
The benefits of this technology include improved positioning accuracy, reduced power consumption, and enhanced reliability in wireless communication.
Potential Commercial Applications
One potential commercial application of this technology could be in the development of smart warehouses with efficient inventory management systems.
Possible Prior Art
One possible prior art could be the use of RFID technology for asset tracking and inventory management, but the backscatter-based positioning described in this patent application appears to be a novel approach.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology compare to existing positioning systems in terms of accuracy and cost-effectiveness?
The article does not provide a direct comparison with existing positioning systems, leaving a gap in understanding the competitive advantages of this technology.

Original Abstract Submitted
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes receiving multiple measurement reports associated with a tag device. The multiple measurement reports includes, for each transmission/reception point (TRP) of a group of TRPs, a measurement report of the TRP. The method also includes determining a position of the tag device based on the multiple measurement reports and a tag delay of the tag device. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
