IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17989047 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes an image forming apparatus that includes various components such as a rotatable photosensitive member, charging portion, exposure portion, developing member, transfer unit, contact and separation portion, charging voltage applying portion, detecting portion, and a controller. The controller is capable of operating in two modes: image forming mode and detecting mode.
- The controller controls the charging current flowing through the charging portion during the operation in the detecting mode to be lower than the charging current during the operation in the image forming mode.
Potential applications of this technology:
- This technology can be used in various image forming devices such as printers, copiers, and scanners.
- It can be implemented in both home and office environments where image printing and copying are required.
Problems solved by this technology:
- By controlling the charging current during the detecting mode to be lower, the image forming apparatus can accurately detect and analyze the condition of the photosensitive member without causing any damage or interference.
- This technology ensures that the photosensitive member is properly charged during the image forming mode, resulting in high-quality prints or copies.
Benefits of this technology:
- The image forming apparatus can perform efficient and accurate detection of the photosensitive member's condition, leading to improved maintenance and troubleshooting.
- By optimizing the charging current, the apparatus can extend the lifespan of the photosensitive member and reduce the need for frequent replacements.
- High-quality prints or copies can be produced consistently, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Original Abstract Submitted
An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable photosensitive member; a charging portion, an exposure portion, a developing member, a transfer unit, a contact and separation portion, a charging voltage applying portion, a detecting portion, and a controller. The controller is capable of executing an operation in an image forming mode and an operation in a detecting mode. The controller carries out control so that a charging current flowing through a charging portion during charging of the photosensitive member in the operation in the detecting mode is lower than a charging current flowing through the charging portion during charging of the photosensitive member in the operation in the image forming mode.
