NON-LINEARITY ESTIMATION TECHNIQUES FOR DIGITAL POST DISTORTION (DPOD) IN A WIRELESS SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17877722 titled 'NON-LINEARITY ESTIMATION TECHNIQUES FOR DIGITAL POST DISTORTION (DPOD) IN A WIRELESS SYSTEM
Simplified Explanation
This patent application describes techniques for estimating non-linearity in a power amplifier (PA) in a wireless system. The first wireless device can estimate the PA non-linearity of a second wireless device by using select signaling from the second device. If the dynamic power range associated with the received signal triggers the estimation of the PA non-linearity, the first device can introduce digital post distortion (DPoD) to the received signaling from the second device based on the estimation.
- The first wireless device estimates the non-linearity of a power amplifier in a second wireless device.
- The estimation is triggered by the dynamic power range of the received signal.
- If the estimation is triggered, the first device introduces DPoD to the received signaling from the second device.
- The estimation and introduction of DPoD help in compensating for non-linearities in the power amplifier.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Wireless communication systems
- Mobile devices
- Internet of Things (IoT) devices
- Satellite communication systems
Problems solved by this technology:
- Non-linearities in power amplifiers can degrade the quality of wireless signals.
- Estimating and compensating for these non-linearities can improve signal quality and overall system performance.
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved signal quality in wireless communication systems.
- Enhanced performance of mobile devices and IoT devices.
- Better utilization of satellite communication systems.
Original Abstract Submitted
This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for non-linearity estimation techniques for digital post distortion (DPoD) in a wireless system. In some aspects, a first wireless device may estimate a power amplifier (PA) non-linearity associated with a second wireless device using select signaling from the second wireless device. For example, the first wireless device may use a received signal to estimate the PA non-linearity if a dynamic power range associated with the signal triggers the estimation of the PA non-linearity (such as if the dynamic power range associated with the signal satisfies, or is expected to satisfy, a threshold dynamic power range). If the dynamic power range of the signal triggers the estimation of the PA non-linearity, the first wireless device may introduce DPoD to signaling received from the second wireless device in accordance with the estimation of the PA non-linearity.
