A display device includes an active area and a peripheral area adjacent to at least a portion of the active area; a base layer; a backplane layer disposed on the base layer; and a light-emitting-element layer disposed on the backplane layer, and including a light emitting element. The backplane layer includes a lower backplane layer, an outer via layer disposed on the lower backplane layer, and an outer passivation layer disposed on the outer via layer. The outer passivation layer includes a first outer passivation layer exposing the outer via layer through a hole in the active area, and a second outer passivation layer not exposing the outer via layer in the peripheral area.
