PRINTING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240227421 titled 'PRINTING APPARATUS

The abstract describes a printing apparatus with a discharge unit and a tray. The discharge unit discharges a printed recording medium in a first direction, while the tray supports the medium with a protruding portion in a second direction and a convex portion on the supporting surface.

  • The printing apparatus includes a discharge unit and a tray.
  • The discharge unit discharges a recording medium printed by a print unit in a first direction.
  • The tray supports the recording medium discharged from the discharge unit.
  • The tray has a protruding portion that protrudes in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
  • A convex portion is provided on the supporting surface of the tray, overlapping the protruding portion.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various printing applications where precise handling of printed materials is required. - It can be implemented in commercial printing services, office printers, and packaging industries.

Problems Solved: - The technology addresses the need for a stable and efficient way to handle printed materials after they have been processed by the print unit. - It ensures that the recording medium is properly supported and protected during the printing process.

Benefits: - Improved efficiency in printing operations. - Enhanced protection of printed materials. - Reduced risk of damage to recording media.

Commercial Applications: Title: Innovative Printing Apparatus for Enhanced Material Handling This technology can be utilized in commercial printing services, office printers, and packaging industries to improve the handling of printed materials, leading to increased efficiency and reduced waste.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the protruding portion of the tray contribute to the stability of the printed recording medium? 2. What are the potential cost-saving benefits of implementing this printing apparatus in commercial printing services?

Original Abstract Submitted

a printing apparatus includes a discharge unit and a tray. the discharge unit discharges a recording medium printed by a print unit in a first direction. the tray includes a supporting surface that supports the recording medium discharged from the discharge unit, a protruding portion that forms part of the supporting surface and that protrudes in a second direction intersecting the first direction, and a convex portion that is provided on the supporting surface and that protrudes upward from the supporting surface. the convex portion is formed on an inner side of the protruding portion in the second direction and overlaps the protruding portion in the first direction.
