METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SOUND OUTPUT OF AUDIO REPRODUCING DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE PERFORMING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240236408 titled 'METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SOUND OUTPUT OF AUDIO REPRODUCING DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE PERFORMING THE SAME

The patent application describes a method for controlling the sound output of an audio reproducing device in simultaneous listening mode with another device.

  • Detect a conversation request from the second audio reproducing device.
  • Control the first audio reproducing device to exit simultaneous listening mode and enter conversation mode.
  • Change the sound output setting of the first audio reproducing device in response to the conversation request.
  • Output content sound based on the changed setting while in conversation mode.

Potential Applications: - Audio devices with conversation modes for seamless transitions between listening and talking. - Communication devices that prioritize conversations over background noise. - Collaborative audio setups where multiple devices interact based on user requests.

Problems Solved: - Ensuring clear communication in multi-device audio setups. - Providing a smooth transition between listening and conversation modes. - Enhancing user experience in shared listening environments.

Benefits: - Improved communication clarity in audio setups. - Seamless transitions between different modes of operation. - Enhanced user control over sound output settings.

Commercial Applications: "Smart" audio devices for conference calls, virtual meetings, and shared listening experiences in public spaces.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the method differentiate between regular audio playback and a conversation request? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in various audio devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

a method of controlling a sound output of a first audio reproducing device that is operable in a simultaneous listening mode with a second audio reproducing device such that, in the simultaneous listening mode, each of the first audio reproducing device and the second audio reproducing device operate to output content sound based on an audio content signal streamed from a corresponding content providing device through a communication connection, according to their respective sound output settings, the method including detecting a conversation request from the second audio reproducing device; controlling the first audio reproducing device to exit the simultaneous listening mode, enter a conversation mode, and change the sound output setting of the first audio reproducing device, in response to detecting the conversation request; and controlling the first audio reproducing device to output the content sound based on the changed sound output setting while operating in the conversation mode.
