INTRA-FRAME PREDICTION METHOD AND TERMINAL - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18605360 titled 'INTRA-FRAME PREDICTION METHOD AND TERMINAL
The abstract describes an intra-frame prediction method and a terminal that involves determining a prediction sample for a prediction block based on an angle prediction mode and modifying the prediction sample using a position-dependent intra prediction combination (PDPC) to generate a modified prediction sample.
- The method involves obtaining texture information of a reference sample set corresponding to a first angle prediction mode, determining a second angle prediction mode based on the texture information, and modifying the prediction sample according to a target reference sample corresponding to the angle prediction mode.
- The innovation focuses on improving intra-frame prediction by incorporating position-dependent intra prediction combinations to enhance the accuracy of prediction samples.
- By utilizing different angle prediction modes and reference sample sets, the method aims to optimize the prediction process for better video compression and quality.
- The technology addresses the need for efficient intra-frame prediction methods in video coding standards to reduce bit rates and improve video quality.
- Potential applications include video encoding and decoding systems, multimedia streaming services, and video surveillance systems that require efficient compression techniques.
- The benefits of this technology include improved video quality, reduced bandwidth requirements, and enhanced compression efficiency for various video applications.
- Commercial applications could include video streaming platforms, video conferencing services, and digital video recorders that can benefit from enhanced video compression techniques.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the position-dependent intra prediction combination (PDPC) improve the accuracy of prediction samples in video coding? 2. What are the potential implications of using different angle prediction modes in intra-frame prediction for video compression efficiency?
Original Abstract Submitted
An intra-frame prediction method and a terminal. The intra-frame prediction method includes: determining a prediction sample corresponding to a prediction block based on an angle prediction mode corresponding to the prediction block; and modifying the prediction sample by using a position dependent intra prediction combination PDPC, to generate a modified prediction sample, where the modifying the prediction sample by using a position dependent intra prediction combination includes: obtaining texture information of a reference sample set corresponding to a first angle prediction mode, the first angle prediction mode being an angle prediction mode corresponding to the prediction block, and the reference sample set including at least one reference sample; determining a second angle prediction mode according to the texture information; and modifying the prediction sample according to a target reference sample corresponding to the angle prediction mode.
